If you have ever been a tourist in Holland, you definitely went to the Tulip gardens, if not make a plan to do that on your next trip. But to locals living there, we would see tulips growing every-where as soon as the season arrived, I loved this site. Every flower shop or cart, on every street corner, comes alive with a magnificent ray of colours. Instinctively you just want to smell them, they don't have a sent, but they have the smell of flower greens, fresh and alive. On one of my return visits to Amsterdam it was such a period.
I went to the Albert Kaup market, and in a little side shop found a beautiful book by Liz Dobbs, (photography by Clay Perry) with beautiful pictures of Tulips. I have painted a series of Tulips since, some I've sold. This painting is done in oil painting on canvas(70-80cm) and a professional photographer took this picture. The quality of photography that I took of other paintings is not too great but I'll submit them some other time.
